Technology In Church

Where does technology "fit" in church?

Today, there are so many ways to get the message of the Gospel delivered. You can download podcasts, view services live online, and so much more.

In order to stay in touch with changing generations, churches have to be able to keep up with the needs of their congregations. I love being able to listen to my pastor's sermon from my iPod while I'm on the treadmill. When I'm out of town, I like that I can watch our Sunday service live on the Internet.

Think about ways you can help your church meet the ever-changing needs of today's fast-paced society.

Keep Learning

Continuing education is a vital necessity in the life of any great assistant. Technology can change at the blink of an eye. Trends change with the seasons. If we are not careful, we'll be locked in a time-warp using outdated methods while the world passes us by.

In the day of iPods, jump drives and cell phones that have most of the bells and whistles of a personal computer, we can't afford to be left behind. A website and email address are staples every church should have. Every church secretary should be more than competent in how to acquire them.

Every church secretary in the 21st century should be proficient in word processing tools, using the internet and more. The great thing is that if you aren't, you can still learn. All it takes is a willingness to sift through the boatloads of information that's avaialble to you...much of it free. What are some of the ways you continue to learn and add value to yourself as an administrative professional?

Taking Care of Yourself

How often do you take time for yourself? In the profession we so graciously embrace, this is very important. We often get pulled in so many directions, if we are not careful our health, family and overal well being can suffer. It's hard sometimes to not constantly be in work mode. It is also easy to get caught up in the business of church and miss out on the actual benefits of being in church. What are some of the ways you take care of yourself while also taking care of your work responsibilities?
